Think about the suburbs of Brisbane… what’s the first name that pops into your mind?

Fortitude Valley? New Farm? Woolloongabba?

It’s not a surprise that the central suburbs get most of our attention. With a multitude of cafes, restaurants, bars, shops, entertainment, sporting events. The only thing missing is the coast. What if we told you that a short journey east of central Brisbane is an up and coming suburb with just about everything on offer, with the added bonus of the coast?

Meet Wynnum

Wynnum is one of Brisbane’s stunning coastal suburbs, located on the shores of Moreton Bay. What once boasted a coastal town atmosphere is now an up and coming suburb with an influx of cafes, restaurants and modern housing. The relaxed, coastal lifestyle that gives Wynnum its character is perfectly juxtaposed with a city ambience.

In order to understand this rare, dreamy lifestyle, we thought we’d take you on a day in the life of a Wynnum local. Sit back, relax and let us show you all that Wynnum has to offer.

But First, Coffee.

Starting the day with a morning coffee is not difficult for a Wynnum local with a variety of tasty cafes too choose from – the only trouble is actually choosing which one to go to.

It’s hard to walk by Frenchie’s Cafe without going inside for a cuppa and a cuddle. That’s not a typo – we really mean cuddle. This cafe not only serves up some delicious coffee, but also prides itself on its love of all things dog related. If you can walk by without going in for some puppy love, we’d be absolutely shocked. We’ve gone with a flat white from Frenchie’s today (and a bit of a snuggle), but there are so many other coffee shops to choose from. We definitely recommend giving them all a go to find your personal favourite.

A Walk in the Park

Once we’ve got our caffeine kick in, a walk through the park is a morning must. The beauty of Wynnum is all around and it can be easily enjoyed through accessibility to several parks and recreation areas. Walking paths are the best way to enjoy all of the natural beauty around town.

A Spot of Lunch

If you thought choosing a morning coffee was hard, lunch is another story. With several incredible cafes comes several meals to choose from. The beauty of living in Wynnum is that you’ll have tons of time to try every single one, and every single meal if you’d really like to. Today, we’re going to go with Pelican’s Nest cafe on the waterfront. It’s the perfect location to take in the coastal views whilst indulging in some fresh, mouth-watering fish and chips.

Afternoon Tee Off

A round of golf is absolutely necessary on a beautiful day in Wynnum. Whether it be a friendly competition among friends or a few holes to practice your skills; this course is the perfect setting to spend your afternoon. We’re going for a leisurely 9-hole round today amongst the picturesque parkland that this course is set on. And of course we can’t leave without a quick afternoon cocktail in the clubhouse.

A Walk Along The Esplanade

The final stretch of the day is here and we can’t let the sun set without a stroll along the Esplanade. After playing a round of golf in the hot Queensland sun we definitely need a dip in the famous Wynnum Wading Pool. It’s the perfect way to cool down on a gorgeous Wynnum day.

We hope you’ve enjoyed spending the day with us, and we encourage you to try it out for yourself. The Wynnum lifestyle is not too far out of reach.
